Perro y Arena is a ceramics project and design studio by Tijuana-born artist Socrates Marko Medina.His work explores a spiritual connection between humans and the Baja Californian fauna. The textures, tones, and forms of the clay resemble the mediterranean landscapes of Baja and the animal figurines transport us to a mystical and mythological world. A place where one is able to dance with coyotes and hares while singing to the moon. Each piece is crafted by hand in his studio in Tijuana, Baja California.
Inspired by the landscapes of California, this collection of figurines capture the essence of a lone coyote, symbolizing the spirit of a wanderer in the vast desert. At its base, a broom sweeps away the coyote's tracks, representing its instinct to cover its path while wandering through the wild. This coyote serves as a reminder of our journeys and the trails we choose to leave behind.
